The Others!

Today if you take public transport, jump in the car or get served at a supermarket take a good look at the people around you. Who do you feel a connection with? Who would you normally fail to even notice? What might the driver next to you at the lights be thinking? Or the cashier be hoping for in her new year?

How can we relate positively to people vastly different from ourselves? And can we by doing so bring the Kingdom to them?

On Tuesday evening we'll be trying to find a biblical answer to these questions - come along and join in the conversation.

Theos, Tuesday 13th January 7.30pm @ Nazarene Theological College.

Isn't it all about just living, sharing and being yourself with others, not performing but just being yourself? Being who you are in Christ without any falseness and with all your vulnerabilities on show so that people can see that you are real?

I really trying to get my head round all this but am really struggling to relate it to my everday life! I can see that understanding myself and knowing my identity in Christ is important, but am finding it really hard seeing how all the different elements we looked at last night fit together. The bit that keeps going round my head is the 'performing Christ in the world' bit. It brings up very negative images of 'faking it' and hard work for me personally. If we're 'in Christ' do we not just need to live transparent, open lives together and let people see who we really are, struggles included? I'm not trying to be negative, just work out how I can take what we discussed and let it make a difference in my everyday life. Can anybody shed a bit of light for me?
